Frequently Asked Questions

  • I start work early and have children to get to school, when can you start?

We will always work around your schedule and are happy to arrange for a technician to arrive on site at a time that suits you. The sooner we start a project, the quicker we are finished so just let us know and we will always find a solution.

  • Will the work create an awful lot of mess?

We take incredible pride in our work, and that extends to our working environment. That is why all surfaces surrounding the work area are fully covered, a days end clean up performed and a full cleaning down service at the jobs end is completed so you are free to enjoy the results of our work without any hastle.

  • Wont replacement windows just last longer?

Having been constructed from strong woods, typically slow grown pine, Georgian and Victorian sash & case windows have already lasted 100 years. With professional renovation and some care this can easily be extended by at least another century, all while retaining the historic character of the building.

  • Why don’t you charge a flat rate per sash & case window?

Essentially, we do not offer flat rates for renovations because there are so many different factors that come into play when reparing sash & case windows. The price paid for one would almost never match that of another so Sash & Case Solutions offer a bespoke quote to each project to give you the best possible value for money. We never charge for unnecessary work.

  • Do you offer multi-window discounts?

We typically operate on a bespoke per-window pricing model, however, every job is unique and we are always happy to discuss larger projects. Get in touch and let us know how many windows you are looking to renovate so we can find a solution.

  • Is it worth it to renovate our sash & case windows?

Absolutely, it is almost always the most cost-effective option to renew as much of the original window as possible rather than pay to replace. If your in a conservation area, replacement windows might not even be an option without planning permission, which is not needed for renovation on a like-for-like basis. Not to mention the value added to a property for well maintained original features.

  • Is draught-proofing acceptable in conservation areas?

Absolutely, they are even encouraged with a reduction in the VAT applied against this part of the service to 5%. There will be no discernible change in the appearance of your windows due to the brushes being integrated into the baton rods and parting beads following Historic Scotland guidelines.
